The laboratory of Jörn Diedrichsen is interested in the function of the cerebellum in motor control and learning. To this aim, it combines high-resultion functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the cerebellum with behavioral studies of motor learning and coordination. Computational models of learning processes at the systems level provide the necessary link between behavior and the observed brain activity. The lab has developed a range of novel fMRI compatible motor response devices and techniques for the analysis of cerebellar fMRI data, such as a detailed probabilisitc atlas of the cerebellum, and techniques to analyze activity in the deep cerebellar nuclei.
